The SWSH Series Jaw Coupling is a specially designed flexible coupling that combines the benefits of snap-wrap element design with a spacer (shaft separation) configuration. It is ideal for applications requiring easy maintenance, extended shaft distance, and minimal downtime.
The SWSH Series allows radial replacement of the elastomeric element without disturbing the hubs, while the spacer arrangement enables convenient maintenance of connected equipment such as pumps and motors without disassembly. It delivers reliable torque transmission along with excellent vibration damping and misalignment accommodation.
Allows sufficient distance between driver and driven equipment, enabling easy maintenance of connected machinery without removing the coupling hubs.
Split elastomeric element can be replaced quickly without moving shafts or hubs, reducing maintenance effort.
Ideal for critical applications where maintenance time must be minimized.
Elastomeric spider prevents direct hub interaction, reducing wear, noise, and extending service life.
Ensures continued torque transmission even in case of elastomer failure.
Accommodates angular and parallel misalignment, protecting shafts and bearings.
Absorbs dynamic loads and reduces torsional vibrations for smooth system operation.
Components:
Two Metallic Hubs
Manufactured from high-grade cast iron or steel.
Spacer Assembly (Shaft Separation Unit)
Provides extended distance between shafts, allowing maintenance without disturbing equipment alignment.
Snap Wrap Elastomeric Spider (Split Element)
Designed for radial installation and removal, available in:
- NBR (Buna-N): General-purpose applications
- Polyurethane: Higher torque and wear resistance
- Hytrel®: High temperature and high torque capability
Working Principle:
Torque is transmitted through the elastomeric snap-wrap element positioned between the jaws of the hubs via the spacer assembly. The flexible element absorbs shocks and accommodates misalignment, while the spacer ensures convenient access for maintenance without dismantling the system.
Advantages
• Enables maintenance of pumps/seals without removing hubs
